أغلقت قوات الأمن مدخل مدينة القاهرة من ناحية محافظة القليوبية- طريق القاهرة الإسكندرية الزراعي" بداية من منطقة المظلات، وانتشر أفراد من الشرطة في المسافة الطويلة بين منطقتي المظلات وميدات التحرير، ووضعت عدة أكمنة تقوم بتفتيش سيارات الميكروباص وإنزال بعض الشباب الذين ينتمون للفئة العمرية بين العشرين والثلاثين عاما وتحفظت أجهزة الأمن على بعضهم.
كما قامت أجهزة الأمن بوضع العديد من الأكمنة على الطريق الزراعي، وقامت بتفتيش السيارات القادمة من المحافظات بدقة، وأصدرت الجهات الأمنية تعليمات بضرورة التحفظ على كل ثلاثة أشخاص يستقلون نفس السيارة ويحملون بطاقة شخصية تشير إلى أنهم من مدينة أو قرية واحدة.
وانتشر عدد من سيارات الأمن المركزي بجوار مبنى الأذاعة والتليفزيون، فيما تم إغلاق كل الطرق المؤدية إلى مقر وزارة الداخلية وتمركزت على ناصية كل شارع وحدتين من الأمن المركزي، وتم تحويل خطوط سير السيارات إلى اتجاهات إجبارية أخرى بعيدة عن الشوارع المؤدية إلى وزارة الداخلية.
